How does BookJane work?

BookJane helps you find and schedule a caregiver when you need one. You select the date, time and location when you need care. You’ll see a list of available providers to choose from. You can review and book your selected caregiver immediately and can rest assured that all BookJane providers are experienced caregivers, background checked, reference checked, CPR/First Aid certificate and have up to date immunizations.

What level of screening do you perform on your BookJane caregivers?

All BookJane caregivers are background checked, reference checked and interviewed in-person. We verify and ensure that each provider holds a valid CPR/First Aid certification and up to date immunization.

What is covered in the background checks?

BookJane partners with Checkr to conduct a thorough background check of each potential caregiver. Included in each background check is a Social Security number (identity) validation; an address history search; a search against Province, National, and Federal databases. BookJane caregivers also may hold a Vulnerable Screen Check as part of their profile.

How much does the BookJane service cost?

Child care service is a flat rate of $21.00/hour and senior care service is a flat rate of $25.00/hour.

How do I book a caregiver?

Simply download the app, search for a caregiver that suits your needs, and book through the app. You can also chat with a caregiver through the BookJane app prior to booking in order to get to know each other better.

How do I pay for the service?

Payments are made directly through the BookJane app. We accept all major credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, American Express)

When do I get charged?

Your credit card will be charged on the day of service. Please note, there is a 2 hrs cancellation policy, for the full duration of the booking. Please make sure your credit card on file is up to date and has the funds available for the booking total.

Can I interview my caregiver before I complete my booking?

Yes. You are welcome to chat with any of the caregivers via the BookJane app before you decide to complete your booking. Families often opt to schedule a BookJane provider to arrive 30 minutes prior to parents or families leaving the caregiver home alone. This gives parents the opportunity to interact with and offer instructions to the caregiver, as well as to introduce the provider to the children to build rapport.

What happens on the day of the booking?

You will receive reminder notifications of the upcoming service. You can track the caregiver arrival in the geo-tracking map 15 minutes prior to the start time. Your caregiver will work the hours you’ve booked. If you should choose to extend your time with a caregiver, please initiate a new request in the app. When the booking is complete your credit card will be charged. There is no cash transferred between a client and a caregiver. Plan ahead, and book your caregiver again!

What is the cancellation policy?

If you absolutely have to cancel your booking, you can cancel up to 2 hours prior to the booking start time to avoid being charged. Once the 2 hour mark has passed, your credit card will be charged.

What if the caregiver cancels the booking?

A BookJane caregiver may also cancel bookings up to 2 hours prior to start time of booking. An in-app message will be sent to customers advising of the cancelled booking, at this point the customer can request a new booking with an alternate caregiver. If a booking requires urgent attention, both customers and caregivers are advised to call BookJane at 1-855-265-5263 and a BookJane Representative can assist with the booking.
